BOAST THE COAST
The 30 th annual Boast the Coast event will take place on Saturday, October 3, 2026. Boast the
Coast was conceived in 1996 to showcase Lewes’ nautical heritage and to feature activities that
complemented the already, long-established University of Delaware’s annual “Coast Day” event
that takes place on the first Sunday in October at their Lewes campus at 700 Pilottown Road.
There are a number of free activities associated with Boast the Coast taking place in 1812 Park
adjacent to the City Dock on the canal from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. They include boat tours on the
canal by Freedom Boat Club; children’s activities with balloon art by Chuckles the Pirate and
face painting by Siobhan Duggan; and musical entertainment by Jgar. Boast the Coast also offers
free admission to Historic Lewes’ Cannonball House, located at 118 Front Street - short walk
from 1812 Park and to the Overfalls Lightship in Canalfront Park, another short walk down Front
Street, past the tennis courts.
Cape Water Tours is offering a Nautical History Tour that departs City Dock at 11 am for a one-
hour tour on the canal with narration. The cost is $25. Reservations are required and can be
booked in advance online at CapeWaterTours.com.
