SUMMARY:“Bountiful” at Gallery One
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:“You crown the year with your bounty\, and your carts overflo
 w with\nabundance\,” Psalm 65:11. At\nGallery One this month our carts a
re overflowing with abundance as we\nfeature paintings that\nreflect the b
ounty and beauty of the season\, and our unique area.\nArtist Eileen Olson
sums this\nup perfectly in her acrylic painting\, “True Blessing\,”
“Organic\nshapes come alive with a plethora\nof colors in greens\, golds
and deep reds in this painting\, and are\nused to evoke abundance. I\nwan
ted to represent the very essence of nature’s bounty with free\nexpressi
on in my acrylic\nabstract.” Similarly\, artist Laurie Fields evokes abu
 ndance in\nquantity in her abstract\, “Morocca\n1” in oil.\n\nOur uniq
ue area evokes the Bounty of our harvests as well\, whether\nthey be from
the sea or the\nland. In Edward Lewandowski’s\, oil painting\, “Chesap
 eake\nTongers\,” and Laura Hickman’s\npastel\, &quot\;Fishing Along th
e Canal\,&quot\; our local waters are\nillustrated. Ed shares his first ha
nd plein\nair experience\, “Oysters were once bountiful in the waters ar
ound\nSmith Island\, MD. Today\,\nlocal watermen still harvest these tasty
  bivalves using a backbreaking\nharvest method called\ntonging. I captured
this scene of a crew pulling oysters from the\nwater on the first day of
the\nseason in October 2023. The abundance of our harvest from the land is
 \nbeautifully celebrated in\nDale Sheldon’s acrylic\, &quot\;Sussex Orch
 ard Bounty\,&quot\; Joyce\nCondry’s\,” Vino Rosso\,” and Marybeth\nP
 atterson’s oil painting\, “Lloyd’s of Lewes.” Marybeth writes\,\n
“Lloyd’s market in Lewes has been\na mainstay for both local residents
as well as visitors. I wanted to\ncapture the abundance of\nfresh produce
\, but even more the warmth and appreciation we have in\nLewes for this tr
 easured\ngem.”\n
