SUMMARY:Celtic to Classical
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:Celtic to Classical returns to Southern Delaware in mid-August
for a\nfifth season\, with a program designed to delight fans of all ages
 and\nmusical genres.\n\n \n\nPlaying piano\, violin and flute\, Celtic to
Classical co-founders\nSheridan Seyfried and Ya-Jhu Yang will present a 6
0-minute program\nfeaturing classical works by Beethoven\, Handel and Moza
rt\, along with\nCeltic fiddling\, New Age music and Jethro Tull’s arran
 gement of a\nfamous Renaissance madrigal.\n\n \n\nHighlights include a th
 rilling four-hand piano performance\, a lively\nflute-violin duet and an o
riginal arrangement by Seyfried\n\n \n\nThe duo will perform identical pr
ograms on Wednesday\, August 11\, at\nEpworth United Methodist Church in R
ehoboth Beach\, and on Thursday\,\nAugust 12\, at St. Martha’s Episcopal
Church in Bethany Beach. Both\nperformances begin at 7:30 PM.\n\n \n\nIn
keeping with the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease\nControl an
d the State of Delaware\, unvaccinated and immunocompromised\nindividuals
are asked to wear masks. Persons with a cough\, fever or\nCOVID-like sympt
oms are asked to refrain from attending.\n\n \n\nIn lieu of ticketed admi
ssion\, Celtic to Classical accepts a free-will\noffering\, with a suggest
ed contribution of $15.\n\n \n\n“We very much missed connecting with ou
r audiences at the beach last\nsummer during the pandemic\,” Seyfried sa
id. “While we won’t have\nas large an ensemble as in previous years or
perform at as many\nvenues\, we’re looking forward to presenting an ecl
 ectic program for\nlive audiences.”\n\n \n\nSheridan Seyfried and Ya-Jh
u Yang have degrees in composition from\nPhiladelphia’s Curtis Institute
and the Manhattan School of Music in\nNew York\, where their teachers inc
 luded Richard Danielpour\, Jennifer\nHigdon and Nils Vigeland.\n\n \n\nTh
eir works have been performed around the world by musicians and\nensembles
including David Shifrin\, Ida Kavafian and the Santa Fe\nSymphony. In 201
3\, Sheridan Seyfried’s Violin Concerto was premiered\nby Pacific Sympho
ny concertmaster Dennis Kim\, who has performed with\nCeltic to Classical.
  Ya-Jhu Yang’s piano trio\, Letters to Formosa\,\nwas performed at the K
ennedy Center as a prize winner of the 2009\nWashington International Comp
etition.\n\n \n\nSeyfried\, whose parents Elise and Steve Seyfried founde
d the venerable\nRehoboth Summer Children’s Theatre in 1982\, spent many
summers at\nthe beach while growing up. The Celtic to Classical summer\np
erformances are inspired by the musical eclecticism of Andrea\nClearfield
’s Philadelphia “Salon” concerts and motivated by a\ndesire to find
joy in different modes of musical expression.\n
