SUMMARY:Coast to Coast Through All Season: Watercolors by Joan Judge
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:“Coast to coast through all seasons\,” from the Alaskan coa
stline\nin spring\, summer in Delaware\, autumn in Maine and the winters o
f\nColorado\, this is the theme of the display I have assembled. We live\n
on a continent of such diverse landscapes\, moods\, and characteristics\,\
nfrom the glaciers of Alaska to the deserts of New Mexico\, from\nYellowst
one in Wyoming to Yosemite in California. So many paintings\nwaiting to ha
ppen. I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to\ncapture some of those
incredible landscapes on a two-dimensional\nsurface and have assembled th
em into a collection of paintings. This\nbody of work depicts the truly di
verse landscape of our Nation\,\nincluding the quaint coastal towns nestle
d against the majestic\nmountains on the Alaskan coastline\, to the calm a
nd sandy beaches of\nsouthern Delaware. In addition\, there are paintings
of the grandeur of\nthe Monterey Peninsula of California\, the pueblos and
dramatic skies\nof New Mexico\, the bubbling streams\, and the rugged Roc
 ky Mountains of\nColorado.  Joan\, is a California native\, and a graduat
e of Humboldt\nState University in Arcata\, California. She focused her ed
ucation and\ncareer on Computer Science and spent most of her working care
 er in\nColorado Springs\, Colorado. After retirement\, Joan rediscovered h
er\ninterest in drawing and painting and enrolled in hometown lifelong\nle
arning classes. The spontaneity and intensity of watercolor and the\nabili
ty to describe the magnificence of any landscape on a\ntwo-dimensional sur
face took her breath away. Her paintings have been\non display in many Nat
ional and International Exhibitions\, and she was\nselected as one of sixt
y artists to exhibit in the Colorado\nGovernor’s Art Show for three cons
ecutive years. She has been\nrepresented at galleries in Denver and Colora
do Springs and is a\nsignature member of several watercolor societies\, in
 cluding the\nDelaware Watercolor Society\, Colorado Watercolor Society\, B
altimore\nWatercolor Society\, and the Pikes Peak Watercolor Society. Sinc
e\nmoving to Delaware and joining the Delaware Watercolor Society in\n2022
\, her paintings have won awards in several of the DWS local\nexhibits. Ve
