EO

EO is a tender drama about an animal who sees the world as a mysterious place. EO, a gray donkey with melancholic eyes and a curious spirit, begins his life as a circus performer before escaping on a trek across the Polish and Italian countryside in a journey marked by absurdity and warmth in equal measure. He witnesses first-hand good and bad people and the experiences of joy and pain all while exploring a vision of modern Europe. Legendary filmmaker Jerzy Skolimowski directs one of his most free and visually inventive films yet, placing the viewer directly in the heart and mind of the four-legged protagonist. [2022, Poland/Italy, 88 min, Rating: NR, in Polish with English subtitles] Odie Henderson of the Boston Globe claims, “The majesty of this film comes from how the director and his team use an often surreal mix of music, editing, sound, and image to allow the viewer to experience the world as we assume EO does.” Venue: Cinema Art Theater. Presenter: Rehoboth Beach Film Society.
