SUMMARY:Gallery One: “Cloud Illusions”
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:While the series of colors in a sunset hold a magical allure by
\nthemselves\, there is more to the\nillusion. Sunlight is composed of all
the colors of the rainbow\, as\nthe sun dips down over the\nhorizon\, sun
light passes through a thicker layer of the atmosphere\ncompared to daytim
 e. This\ncauses the blue light that is dominant during the day to be scatt
ered\naway from our eyes\,\nallowing redder and orange light to pass throu
gh. The essence of a\nbeautiful sunset is held in the\ncloud layer\, speci
fically the clouds at the upper and lower levels\,\nand their ability to r
eflect\ncolors back to the ground. This effect is beautifully illustrated
this\nmonth by artists Rina Thaler\,\nand Lesley McCaskill. “I am always
attracted to brightly colored\nskies\, but this one took my\nbreath away\
,” writes Rina about her watercolor painting\, “Cloud\nIllusions”
“The weight of the\nclouds reflecting on the water added depth and drama
  to the scene.”\nIn artist Lesley McCaskill’s\nacrylic painting\, “
Day is Done\,” the ribbons of color reflecting\nfrom the sky to the wate
r\, and\nback to the boat’s sail create a dramatic composition filled wi
th\nvibrant color.\nWe hope you will join us in our illusion this month wi
 th a visit to\nGallery One\, we are open\ndaily 10am – 4pm.\n
