SUMMARY:\"Liminal Space\": Oil Paintings by Jinchul Kim
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:I am interested in blurring the boundaries between things that
we have\nconcluded in predated aesthetics. I am very interested in constru
cting\nnewer languages that can embrace/unite these preconceived definitio
ns\nwith innovative constructs. For this mission\, I attentively engage my
\npicture-making process through inventive personal semiotics. These\nsemi
otic connotations are melted into my work alongside the strong\npresence o
f formal strategies. I use the formal approach as a binder\nto build a rob
ust architecture for the painting\, whether the work is\ninvolved in abstr
act or representational environments. I hope to\ngenerate a dynamic for th
e viewer to participate in a game of\nreveal/conceal through newer composi
tions and contrasting the firm\narchitecture of painting with the artifice
of superficial beauty.\nConsequently\, I often mingle around two-dimensio
nal formats to kinetic\nstructures and space to convey this creative freed
om to merge these\nvarious presumptions around our lives. I often use figu
rative elements\nas vehicles to intensify the presence of common ground be
cause we are\nall human at the end of the day.   Venue: Rehoboth Art Lea
 gue.
