DESCRIPTION:Heidi Lowe invites you to see her new exhibition\, “Metal & M
 emory:\nAn Artist Dialogue With History\,” at the opening reception on\n
 Saturday\, November 1st\, from 5-6 pm at the Rehoboth Beach Museum. As a\n
 Rehoboth native\, Heidi Lowe spent her childhood exploring every nook\nand
  cranny of this area. After spending her days at Rehoboth\nElementary\, sh
 e would walk to her mother\, Colleen Lowe’s\, kids'\nclothing store on M
 ain. Her days were filled with making collages of\nvisiting tourists\, cre
 ating earrings to sell at boutiques down the\nstreet\, and running lunches
  to other shop owners. Rehoboth holds a\nvery special place in Heidi’s l
 ife\, and she was incredibly honored\nto be asked to create this exhibitio
 n. The Rehoboth Beach Museum\nselected five pieces from its permanent coll
 ection that Heidi Lowe was\ntasked with responding to. Some pieces came fr
 om a time well before\nher own\; others she knew intimately. All have left
  a lasting mark\nstill felt today. Each piece in this body of work is conn
 ected to\nHeidi and the feeling of what could have been\, from the times o
 f\nNative Americans fishing for eels to the revival and the fun of the\nbo
 ardwalk. Heidi is an artist. The Lowe family prioritized artistic\nexpress
 ion\, working with mediums like paint\, crayons\, clay\, and\nconstruction
  daily. She was introduced to silversmithing at Cape High\nSchool\; from t
 here\, a lifelong passion was born. She has since\nreceived her BFA in Met
 als and Jewelry from Maine College of Art in\nPortland\, Maine. A year lat
 er\, she went to graduate school at the\nState University of New York\, Ne
 w Paltz\, where she earned her MFA..\nAfter her time in New York\, Lowe mo
 ved back to Delaware in 2006 and\nopened Heidi Lowe Gallery\, which exhibi
 ts contemporary art jewelry.\nHeidi sees jewelry as inherently connecting 
 with the body\, both\nphysically and emotionally\, and naturally expressin
 g the wearer's\nidentity. The pieces in this exhibition are designed to be
  worn\, with\neach one representing a group of people navigating a communi
 ty at\nvarious points in history. The exhibition will be displayed at the\
 nRehoboth Beach Museum starting October 30th through the winter season.\nA
  second Museum Members Only opening will take place on October 30th.\nVenu
