Periers Day featuring La Vie en Rose (French Jazz)- Bethany

July 27th is Périers Day, an annual event marking the twinning of the towns of Bethany Beach, Delaware and Périers, France. La Vie en Rose will commemorate the occasion with an elegant evening of French Chanson mixed with American Jazz to keep you swinging all night.

The program will take place on the stage at 7:30 PM.

Several downtown restaurants will also participate in the event by creating French-inspired dishes. Turtle Beach Café will offer Quiche Lorraine; The Blue Crab will feature Le Moules-Frites; and Bethany Blues will prepare a steak and béarnaise entrée. The Bethany Beach Farmers Market will also have vendors featuring French items. Look for the French flags.

Périers, located in Normandy, France, was liberated by the US Army 90th Infantry Division on July 27th, 1944. The liberation came almost two months after the D-Day landing on Utah Beach. The twinning or “sister city” relationship between the two towns was established in 2010.

The commemorative program is free and sponsored by the Cultural and Historical Affairs Committee. There is no rain date.
