Preservation Matters

May 21, 2022
As a retreat destination for many regional Artists, it is not  surprising that over the years, the Art League has acquired works from many of its patrons.  The League’s Permanent Collection houses over a 1000 items in its five collections.  These works span original sketches, oil and watercolor paintings, sculpture, decorative art, and host of other creative works.  In addition to the art, the League holds photographs, video, furnishings cultural archives from the early formation of art scene  in the Rehoboth Area. As part of the Rehoboth Art League’s mission to Teach, Inspire, and Preserve,  selected works of art from the League’s Permanent Collection are in need of restoration.  As a result, Preservation Matters was created where these works are showcased in the Dewitt Gallery as part of an “adoption effort” to raise money for the restorative work.  Estimates are generated by conservators and put on display next to the art in need of work.  We encourage patrons to donate the funds by “adopting” the work to cover restoration expenses.  In return, the patron will receive recognition and a giclée reproduction of the restored work. Venue: Rehoboth Art League.
