Rehoboth Arts Festival May 21, 2022 Presented by Rehoboth Art League and the City of Rehoboth Beach Saturday, May 21, 2022 The Rehoboth Art League and the City of Rehoboth Beach have partnered to produce the City’s arts festival on Saturday, May 21, from 10am-5pm, in the downtown’s picturesque Grove Park, where artists will showcase and sell their work. Known for its annual events that draw discerning local collectors as well as those vacationing from the Baltimore/Washington, DC, area as well as Philadelphia and New York City, the Rehoboth Art League is proud to present this new event as another way to bring creative minds to coastal Delaware. Held just prior to Memorial Day weekend—the unofficial start of summer for this beach town—the event will fill Rehoboth Beach with tents of original, quality artwork, where RAL member artists can sell their work. ARTISTSRAL member artists will be available in their booths along the pathways of Grove Park to discuss their creative process and have their work available for sale. Sales transactions will be completed with individual artists. View a complete list of juried artists for this event.  RAFFLEChester County, PA native John Pompeo is a self-taught artist, “born with a crayon in my hand”. However he wasn’t always a painter. He initially gravitated toward science, earning a BS degree in Biology. But ten years in the Pharmaceutical industry as a biochemist left him feeling lost and longing to re-connect with the artist that had always been there, patiently waiting to re-emerge. In 2001 he decided to make a drastic career change and started a mural business, eventually creating smaller works on canvas. Influences range from contemporary plein- air artists to early-20th century American Impressionists. John exhibits his works primarily at art shows and festivals from VA to CT. “The subjects I am inspired to paint usually have one thing in common…a sense of serenity. I’m in love with the countryside surrounding my studio in idyllic Chester County, PA. The woods, creeks, rolling hills and farmland provide endless points of artistic exploration. Each new painting starts with a walk, bike ride or drive…My intention is always to produce pieces that inspire, awaken, and soothe, whether they are briefly being viewed in a gallery, or contributing to the harmonious energy of a client’s living room.” Pompeo has donated an original oil painting, “Awakenings,” to the Rehoboth Art League to help raise funds to support its education and exhibition programs. This 30″ x 40″ piece in a custom floater frame is valued at $3,000 and is on display in the Corkran Gallery. Raffle tickets are $5 per ticket or five for $20 and may be purchased at the event’s RAL membership booth and the front desk of the Corkran Gallery through May 21. The drawing will take place at end-of-day on May 21. To be eligible, ticket holders must be 18 years or older and include phone number, address, email and name on each ticket.
