SUMMARY:\"Soundless Poem\": Paintings and Ceramics by Jinsoon Oh
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:“My work is primarily inspired by my experience with and\nund
erstanding of nature. These continuously accumulated connotations\nfrom th
e world I live in are mostly constructing the engine of my\ncreation. I of
ten use metaphoric and empathic notions to reconstruct\nelements from natu
re during my process in the making. I discover the\noccurrence of the beau
ty of freedom when I rearrange their placements.\nIt maybe sounds like som
e shocking effects from typical surrealistic\napproaches. But my goal is n
ot to emulate an impact or any surprise. I\nhope to engage with the viewer
through these imaginative elements that\ncan be extremely valuable as spa
ce activators in my work. I would like\nto see these implied aspects speak
to the viewer as poetry does. My\nrecent paintings are centered around du
alistic aspects of image-making\nand dismantling the images simultaneously
. I enjoy finding the\nmid-ground between representational forms and pure
abstract formality\nsuch as lines\, planes\, and colors. If representative
form symbolizes\nthe natural world we live in\, pure forms with minimalis
tic methods\nrepresent our philosophy and the integrity of our life. My re
cent\npaintings play with this juxtaposition.” Venue: Rehoboth Art Leagu
