Southern Delaware Orchestra Spring Concert

Mar 19, 2023 • 3:00 pm
SODELO, the Southern Delaware Orchestra, is hosting its Spring Concert at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center on Sunday, March 19 at 3 p.m. The concert will feature a variety of works for string orchestra, including Haydn's C Major Cello Concerto featuring guest soloist Bob Cafaro of the Philadelphia Orchestra. This event will be the orchestra's third performance. This concert is free to attend. About SODELO: SODELO is a community string orchestra established in 2022 and is comprised of over 40 musicians. Our mission is to provide a welcoming environment for performers in southern Delaware to learn, play, and perform classical music for the community and to enhance the richness of the arts and cultural offerings of our region. Our musicians include professionals, teachers, high school students, and retirees. The orchestra was started when board President Steve Greifer posted on social media in February of this year looking for local musicians with whom he could play chamber music. The response was much greater than imagined. Eva DelGallo, a retired school orchestra conductor and Lewes resident, and James Allen Anderson, head of Orchestral Studies at the University of Delaware, jumped in to help get everyone organized. The orchestra held its first rehearsal on May 3rd and gave its first concert in July at Bethel United Methodist Church to a full house and a standing ovation. We are excited to be sharing music with you! Learn more about how we are bringing more fine arts opportunities to Sussex County at www.sodelomusic.org. Venue: Rehoboth Beach Convention Center. Presenter: SODELO (SOUTHERN DELAWARE ORCHESTRA).
