The gallery’s September show\,\n“The Eastern Shore\,” is one of these showcases\, with returning\nartists highlightin g how their work has evolved over the years. From\nAugust 29 to September 27\, Carole Böggemann Peirson\, Lynne Lockhart\,\nand Kirk McBride will d isplay artwork inspired by the DelMarVa region\,\npresenting the area thro ugh their artistic eye. While each artist has\ntheir own technique and sub ject matter\, their painterly style and\nsense of light unify the collecti on. These paintings aren’t realist\nor abstract\; rather\, they use impr essionistic methods and tactile\nelements to give the beauty of our enviro nment an aesthetic flair. An\nopening reception will be held on Saturday\, August 29\, from 5:00 to\n6:30 pm\, which is free and open to everyone. J oin the gallery staff\nand exhibitors for an evening of fine art and compl imentary food and\ndrink. Attendees will have the opportunity to mingle wi th some of the\nshow’s participating artists.  Dutch artist Carole Bög gemann\nPeirson has been a professional oil painter since 2005 and is know n\nfor her East Coast landscapes. Her ethereal works in oil and cold wax\n are inspired by the idea that all living things are connected and that\nwe are spiritual beings having a temporary physical experience. She\nenjoys creating harmonious abstracted landscapes on cradled boards\nthat invite t he viewer to explore the intricate layers of colors and\ntextures. The pro cess of applying layers of oil paint and wax and then\nuncovering previous layers results in an interesting balance between\nsurprising effects and deliberate design. The paintings are meant to\nevoke emotions and memories through the use of intentional surface\ntexture and a hazy\, dreamlike fi nish.  The quiet observation of the\nnatural world\, both wild and tame\, provides endless inspiration for\nLynne Lockhart. Her work focuses on ani mals and landscapes\, often\ncombining the two. She lives on Maryland's Ea stern Shore with a mutt\nand her husband\, painter Kirk McBride\, and she is a 14-year Signature\nMember of the Society of Animal Artists. For this exhibition\, Lynne\nhas provided a variety of images featuring animals spe cific to our\nregion\, such as horses\, cows\, goats\, and more. Her fauna are presented\nin both traditional portrait style and candid location-bas ed scenes.\nThe habitat works see friendly critters engaging with their na tural\nenvironments — chickens roaming a yard\, sheep being herded\, dog s\nprotecting their houses — while the portraits are emotive\,\nshowcasi ng the personalities of the different breeds.  After winning\n“Best in Show” at his first local art show while attending the\nUniversity of Mar yland\, Kirk McBride decided to pursue a life as an\nartist. He has been a t it since the 1970s\, part-time while teaching\nand raising a family\, an d full-time since the early 90s. He has\nparticipated in many exhibitions and painting events and is a\nSignature Member of the Mid Atlantic Plein A ir Painters Association\nand the American Society of Marine Artists.
