 ar\nat nine and quickly showcased his talent\, joining the University of\n
 Bridgeport Jazz Ensemble by age 15. At age 19\, he performed with\nnotable
  groups like the Don Elliott Quintet and Gerry Mulligan Sextet.\nAfter ear
 ning a BSc in music from New York University in 1976\, he\njoined the Heat
 h Brothers Band in 1978\, recording five albums while\ntouring globally. I
 n 1982\, Purrone embarked on a successful jazz\ncareer\, collaborating wit
 h legends such as Frank Foster\, Dizzy\nGillespie\, Jerome Richardson\, Ed
  Thigpen and many others. Ed Thigpen's\n1991 album “Mr. Taste” feat. T
 ony earned a 5-star rating from\nDownbeat magazine. He has taught at Housa
 tonic College\, Wesleyan\nUniversity\, and Queens College\, contributed to
  two Grammy-nominated\nalbums\, and recorded with various renowned artists
