SUMMARY:Wine Routes: Work by David Hollander
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:September 26 through October 26\, 2025 Opening Reception: April
4\, 2025\n(5pm-7pm) Tubbs Gallery In a series of “vineyard-scapes” Da
vid\nHollander presents us with uniquely personal remembrances of his\next
ensive travels through the great wine regions of the Old World and\nNew Wo
rld. Whether the images were captured in a sketchbook\, on film\nor simply
imprinted in memory they became a stockpile for later\ndevelopment. “I
always thought of myself as a figurative artist\,”\nhe says. “In fact\
, I still do\, but at a certain point I found myself\ncalled to explore la
ndscape paintings. At first\, I was drawn to the\ntechnical challenges but
for me the true value of my work is the\ndialogue between the formal aspe
ct and the emotive response I have to\nthe image and hopefully elicit in a
viewer.” A painting may have its\ngenesis in a specific time and place\
, but the real subject is the\nmemory of the initial sensation of the enco
unter. As the work\nprogresses it evolves and takes on a life of its own.
Capturing the\nplay of sunlight across a row of vines or field of lavender
is no more\nimportant than the sense of wonder felt when looking down fro
m\, or up\nat\, a hot air balloon over Napa Valley. Venue: Rehoboth Art Le
 ague.
