Sent the pictures the following morning but GM said when he had a chance he would look at it. Not sure if he ever did.
I also noticed on my bill a 10% service charge - I asked about that and the response was that it’s what some hotel call a resort fee —- it covers the “ free parking and free pool”. If that’s the case they are not free!!!
We have been staying at the sands for 15 years every summer and the prices rise every year but the rooms are not keeping up with the price increase in terms of cleanliness and updates! With new hotels being built the Sands better step up their game because $500 plus a night and a 10% service charge will drive people away!
I would also say that the front desk people are not very cordial or welcoming . When I was trying to extend, one of the people ( Deyan) was more interested in his cell phone than helping me ! I witnessed him numerous other times on his phone watching videos or playing games as people were waiting to be helped.
However, we NEVER got any cleaning service the entire trip. We were there Sunday-Friday and had mentioned it a couple times to the front desk after we noticed are room hadn’t been touched. We had seen maids in the hallways but when we did they were talking on the phone and sitting on the floor scrolling away. Halfway through our stay another family member who was staying in another room went to our room to grab something that was forgotten while we were at the beach. The maid was cleaning the other rooms and had skipped ours again (third day in a row). That family member had to sit and watch the maid clean the room and still had to ask for new towels and sheets for the beds.
After the incident we assumed our room would be cleaned on our last day when we got back from the beach. It wasn’t. So while I’m dealing with 2 screaming, exhausted kids in the bath my husband is having to grab the maid and ask for towels. Then and only then were we asked if we wanted service, obviously at that point we didn’t want it because it was 2 in the afternoon! I went to talk to the front desk and asked for the manager. I was told the manager wouldn’t be there until the morning and that the cleaning service should be cleaning every other room every other day. I talked to the manager that next morning and reexplained everything. He pulled out the cleaning manager’s log with all the times of the services. It was written we had denied service at 10am on a day but we were already at the beach at that time and not in our rooms. He said we would get some money back (which was less than our deposit btw) and a coupon for the following summer.
We did not the refund or email with the coupon that he claimed to send. Sad that we were taken advantage of and disrespected.
Edit: we did receive the refund but no email. We never had the do not disturb sign on the door, so there are no other excuses. I would’ve loved to speak to the new GM but I was told by the front desk that their managerial staff was changing and their new GM was not willing to speak with me, so another manager dealt with the situation.
