Breakers Hotel & Suites

UNINHABITABLE. Dirty room, urine smelling bed, bugs. I had a reservation for the nights of May 22, 23 2025. After check-in I proceeded to move my belongings into the room. Upon entering the room, it had an odor of urine and the floors were very dirty. I cleaned the floors with Lysol wipes and sprayed the room with Lysol. I proceeded to advise the front desk clerk (at about 4:30 PM on May 22) about the uncleanliness of the room. I took one of the Lysol wipes to show her. She was very pleasant and explained that the hotel doesn’t currently have any housekeeping employees but she would discuss the issue with the hotel manager to see if there was anything that could be done. I never heard from the hotel manager.

The urine smell was bad, but I continued to spray the Lysol. I stayed the night, and determined after getting into the bed that the urine smell was from the mattress. When I woke up in the morning my spouse had bug bites. I lifted up the sheets and discovered what appeared to be bug carcasses or bug feces.

The hotel room was uninhabitable. I packed up my vehicle then proceeded to the front desk to advise the clerk that I was checking out due to the room being uninhabitable. At approximately 10:35 on May 23, I was met with a very rude and unprofessional woman at the front desk. I explained the issues with the room. She said sarcastically, what do you expect to be done. I said I want the night that I am not staying to be refunded. She bluntly said, we don’t give refunds. She said make a claim with your credit card company. The clerk never went to inspect the room and didn’t even look at the photos that I have. It’s obvious that the hotel manager is not doing her job and whoever was working the front desk at 10:35 on May 23 needs some lessons in customer service.

If you encounter the same problem, file a dispute with your credit card, file a complaint with BBB, and file with DE Attorney General Office so this place is investigated for unhealthy conditions.

Great location. About a five minute walk from the beach. Rooms are very clean and tidy. Breakfast is served from 8-10 am daily and is always good. But the best part besides the convenience of being close to the boardwalk/beach is the customer service. I have been coming here since I was a kid, and the front desk staff have always been super polite, friendly and helpful. Thank you!!

Came here for a mini staycation with my kids. The rooms were nice and the room that we had had a balcony and my kids loved it. We were able to get breakfast in the morning on the fourth floor and we were able to go swimming on the fifth floor in their indoor pool. This hotel is less than a half a block away from the boardwalk. I highly recommend if you want something that is budget, friendly kid, friendly, and close to the boardwalk.
