Jalapeno Restaurant

I kept passing by this restaurant and finally stopped in on a bustling Friday night. I ordered the Mojarra frita for first time ever. It was about a 15 minute wait as it is prepared at order.
I must say I was surprised by the appearance (see photos). It is supposed to be a talapia or similar white fish. I've never seen or eaten a fish that looked or tasted like this; and I've eaten all kinds of fish throughout my life. It took me 2 days to eat. I had no after effects after eating the fish. It was very tasty on the 2nd day.
I googled the fish to find out, it is a very popular Mexican and Latin American dish. I also read it is an in-demand platter in South Florida.
Who knew something so "interesting" looking could smell and taste delicious.

I say these things, not as criticisms but more to be informative. It's a very Mexican restaurant. We were the only non-hispanics and our server did not understand English to the point that I had to use Google translate to order. She was very friendly but didn't even understand Coca Cola which I thought was universal around the world.

Therefore, the food was very authentic. We prefer what I guess you'd call "american mexican" so it wasn't our favorite but that doesn't mean it wasn't good or you shouldn't go. I was not up for trying the "Cows Feet Soup" or "beef tongue" tacos.

It is an excellent restaurant to eat alone, with family or friends. They have a delicious menu and the attention of their staff is incredible. They are friendly and very attentive.
