Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Georgetown Delaware Beaches

I don’t usually write reviews and I don’t like to play the KAREN role. HIGHLY disappointed in Microtel Georgetown. My husband booked our room a few weeks ago, not online, not through an app but on the phone with a REAL person. I’ve worked customer service for quite a few years and this was a bad experience for us. I understand company policies and regulations but I also feel like they should be disclosed and upfront AT ALL TIMES. This specific location cancelled our reservation through text message 2 hours before our arrival!! We had booked over the phone and even on the DAY of our reservation spoke with hotel staff about an early check in which they had obliged. My husband is military they knew this and knew that our stay had lined up with his service call that week. Staff had not only cancelled our reservation but informed us the DAY OF that they no longer book DE residents because of prior incidents. When we booked weeks ago they were aware of our DE residency and still proceeded to book our stay and then cancel. UNPROFESSIONAL, INCONSIDERATE, INCONVENIENT.

Hotel is clean and conveniently located with plenty of parking. Breakfast was good and provided a positive start to the day. Staff was friendly and very helpful to us. Right across the highway is a Taco Bell, Dairy Quen Grill and Chill, and an Excellent Mexican restaurant called Los Azteca. Absolutely recommend this hotel.

I rarely leave reviews unless an experience is so poor that I feel others should be aware. I also believe most issues can be resolved with a simple conversation, which is exactly what I tried to do. Unfortunately, after multiple attempts, I was left with no choice but to share my experience. During my stay, the hotel failed to provide accommodations that met even basic cleanliness and service standards, especially for a hotel charging over $200 per night. I expect much more from a premium hotel chain than I would from a budget motel. Throughout my stay, I spoke with at least three different front desk employees regarding multiple issues with the room and building. While most of the staff were pleasant and genuinely seemed to want to help, they consistently acknowledged that the property has ongoing maintenance issues that corporate has failed to address. The only exception was my final interaction, when an assistant manager told me to "act like an adult" before hanging up on me. I repeatedly requested to speak with a manager, both during my stay and after returning home. A manager was never available. Ironically, when my booking company contacted the hotel, management claimed they had made several attempts to reach me, which is simply untrue. The solutions offered were not reasonable. I was offered a room with only one bed despite traveling with a family of four, or to have maintenance enter the room while we were away, with no guarantee the issues would actually be resolved. After exhausting every reasonable avenue, I filed a dispute with my bank and contacted corporate. My biggest disappointment isn't just the condition of the hotel; it's the complete lack of accountability. The staff appear to deal with these complaints regularly but have little authority to resolve them, while management remains inaccessible.

I would strongly encourage anyone considering this property to look elsewhere. The friendly front desk staff cannot make up for the poor condition of the hotel and the lack of management support when problems arise.
