The Blue Hen is a regional American fare restaurant set in a similar ‘beach casual with class’ décor that personifies The Avenue. Using the small independent farm and purveyor products that made The Oyster House famous, The Blue Hen will be delivering the same commitment to top quality eats, craft beers and boutique wines. Coupled with the excellent guest service and professionalism that Chris and Joe have developed their team to deliver, The Blue Hen is the new favorite spot for locals and visitors alike.

I come to The Blue Hen somewhat frequently, and it never disappoints. The food is always delicious—especially the fried chicken, which is one of my favorites. The biscuits are absolutely amazing, and the drink selection is great, with a solid variety of wine, beer, cocktails, and even a few non-alcoholic options. The staff is always friendly and helpful, which makes the experience even better. Prices are a little on the high side, but in line with most restaurants in town. Highly recommend!

It’s a really good restaurant with an interesting and tasty menu, specially the starters. Biscuits were surprisingly fresh and good.

At my first visit to Blue Hen, a few of us sat outside by the fire pit and enjoyed a couple of beverages. On this trip six of us had dinner inside. The vibe is good, mellow. We shared a couple of appetizers, the lobster toast and the crispy calamari. The lobster toast was interesting in a good way with a few layers of flavors. The calamari was indeed crispy, and restored my enjoyment of the dish--it can be disappointing. My wife and I tried the recommended fried chicken, and it was indeed a tasty treat. Others in our group had the shrimp and grits and the flat iron steak, and were reported as very good. I only had one drink (how did that happen?), the classic julep, and it was exellent. Service was timely if not especially cordial.
