Woodies in Dewey Beach is all about the crab — and they absolutely deliver! The crab cakes are the real deal: packed with delicious lump crab and not loaded with panko or fillers. If you come here, the crab cake platter is a must. It comes with two sides, and definitely make one of them the tots!
And don’t skip the crab dip — another standout. Honestly, if “crab” is in the name of the dish here, order it.
My friend decided to venture away from the obvious choice and ordered the roast beef sandwich, which was a little dry — but that’s kind of on him. 😂 You come to Woodies for the crab cakes!
Great casual Dewey Beach spot, generous portions, and some seriously good crab. It’s all about the crab at Woodies! 🦀

I stopped by Woody’s Dewey Beach for lunch today and realized I had never left a review before. I’ve been here a hundreds of times as I live less then a block away. Their crab cakes are amazing! They used to have a steak special on Thursday nights where you can add a crab cake, for “steak and cake” night. On this lunch time visit though, we opted for some sandwiches. Everything was prepared well and came out promptly. The staff was attentive and great to interact with. I also appreciate that the restaurant is dog friendly, which means Schnitzel gets to join us. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, as well as bar seating inside. Prices are reasonable. They are one of the few places in Dewey that are open everyday.

Ordered the crab pretzel and monster sandwich. The reviews about the crab cakes being bland are honest reviews. Sure it was a lot of lump crab meat, but it had no flavor. Same can be said for the soft shell crab. The crab dip tasted how crab dip should, nothing special, and the Mac and cheese can be compared to Stouffers. If you want quality food that has flavor, go somewhere else. The server assistant also hovers way too much! I get we want to turn tables quickly, but the experience felt rushed with how often he came past the table trying to clear plates that we were still using.
