Ignite the Light

Jan 25, 2023
Art has the power to bring us together and highlight our shared humanity. As part of the celebration of Black History Month, CAMP Rehoboth is hosting “Ignite the Light,” a six-week group art show that extends from January 18 through February 28, 2023, with a reception on Saturday, January 21, 2023, from 2 to 4 p.m. In this exhibition, artists of color share how they have awakened their inner power to create art that inspires and enlightens. “Ignite the Light” is a juried exhibition, with Lori Crawford, Associate Professor of Art at Delaware State University, serving as the juror. She was awarded a Delaware Division of the Arts Individual Artist Fellowship in 2008 and has exhibited in many museums and galleries. Thirteen artists were selected by Crawford, with each artist sharing their unique perspectives. The 30 works on display include a variety of media - oil and acrylic paintings, digital art, mixed media, and fabric art in the form of quilts depicting aspects of Black life and culture.    The artists who are part of “Ignite the Light” are Bryant T. Bell, Jefiah Bordley, Valerie Brooks, Sheila Exum, Kiara Florez, Taylor Gordon, Kayla Johnson, Gemma Lockhart, Ann Martin, Ebube Maduka-Ugwu, Faye McNeill, Ronica Ridley-Martin, and Theresa Taylor.    All are invited to attend the reception on January 21 from 2 to 4 p.m. to meet the artists and learn from the stories these talented artists have shared through their art.   Venue: CAMP Rehoboth.
